ECHO project - AirCage
This setup has been published by the ECHO project and it shows some very interesting details.
But here is the "inventor" himself, Nick Wollage:
"Spacious and enveloping sound for traditional cinematic orchestration, characterized by the unique timbral character of Neumann M50 microphones. Offers good translation in Dolby Atmos and fold-downs.
The configuration will be (in the original)
- Traditional Decca Tree with M50s for L/C/R, extended with TLM170s for sides, rears and height layer.
- The use of hyper-cardioids for the TLM170s offer a greater level of interchannel decorrelation and separation, resulting in enhanced envelopment."
This setup is similar to, but also different from, the PCMA-3D v2 setup.

Yes! There is a "Decca-Tree" in the front, which has its known advantages.
It is commonly used to record large orchestras because it provides a solid foundation and a sense of spaciousness. When used for field recording, the "omnis" are not overly sensitive to wind, though good wind protection should always be applied.
This setup caught our attention, and we dedicated ourselves to creating a budget-friendly version, which we are now excited to share. It has undergone quite a few iterations, and we expect to make further tweaks.
For this is what we call "version 1.0". It's good enough to get you started.
If you are interested in setting it up yourself and your piggy bank has run off with your money, this tutorial and this shopping list may be of help.
