Gear

Gear

This is one important axiom about sound engineering:
Once you've been infected with the “sound virus”, you'll never recover from it. Period!

One symptom of the sound virus is that you will never have enough gear, and you will certainly never ever have the “right” gear. So you will keep buying.

This is no different with Ambisonic, and lately there have been many new and very fascinating developments. This includes not only compact microphone systems, but also many plug-ins for DAWs.

So let's split here and have separated parts for Hardware, Microphones and Software.

We would recommend the articles about how to  ... Mark your gear and Know your gear!

No flame wars, please!

We will never participate in discussions about the "best gear ever" or whether "gear X is better than gear Z." or such alike.
We believe today's gear is so similar that you should decide if you want to spend twice as much on an eight-track recorder or high-end microphones.
Don't get us wrong. High-end gear delivers high-end results. Period. However, not all of us are recording the soundscape for the next Hollywood blockbuster, right?

We focus on the budget and try to get the biggest bang for the buck.

Any gear shown is completely our own. There are reasons why we use it and not something else. However, these reasons are less important than how to set up a system that serves your needs. Regard them as an example and how things can be done.
There is no obligation for you.
