Microphone systems (extended)
OCT-Surround
OCT-Surround is an extension of the OCT Optimal Cardioid Triangle. It is not brand new, but still serves very well, especially, if you need a nice and stable 5.x recording.
OCT-3D or OCT-9
Based on the OCT-Surround setup, this setup also includes the height information into the recording.
It's quite straightforward, but depending on the height of the top microphones, the setup may become a little bit more solid and the the total weight will increase.
But see for yourself in the article about the OCT-3D or OCT-9 setup.

FOA in A-format
If there is a FOA in native B-format, there is an "A-format" also.
And in the article FOA in A-format, we tell you more about it.
2D - FOA in native B-format
In the article 2D - FOA in native B-format you will find a system that consits of three microphones and enables you to record sounds in a circle around it.
Mainly this is used to record a small choir, a folk band or just an atmo.
A rebuild of the Schoeps KFM 360 system
Although it is no longer produced or sold, it remains an excellent, very versatile system.
The Schopes KFM 360 is based on an artificial head microphone system, such as this one.
The "magic" of this system lies in its post-production capabilities. With just four microphones, one can create a real 5.1 surround mix that still meets high standards.
