This is a prototype of a 7th order ambisonic microphone system build by a team of the University of Applied Sciences of Cologne.
This article is not the whole story. Its intention is to show you the way to the rabbit hole.
OCT - Optimal Cardioid Triangle
This is not an ambisonic microphone system, but offers many advantages that come in handy in certain situations. See in this article
OCT - Surround
This is an extension of the OCT system and offers a natural and stable surround soundscape. A separate article is still in the works, but we have already discussed a few basic aspects in the article “OCT - Optimal Cardioid Triangle.”
OCT 9 or OCT-3D
A further extension of the OCT system and the OCT Surround system. It provides height information and thus also a more natural and enveloping listening experience.
This article will provide more details about this.
OCT - 9+
This is an advancement of the "ambisonic.studio" system from OCT-9.
It allows you to make recordings in which all channels can easily be routed to a 7.1.4 setup, such as Dolby Atmos.
