It's not just about adding two more microphones; it's also important to know how to process recordings with this extended version of the classic Bowles array.
The two additional microphones for the side channels can be placed anywhere from directly in front of the ears to slightly behind the listener. Feel free to adjust the position of these two microphones to your liking. There is no "right" or "wrong" way. Let your ears be your guide.
When mixing, it is best to treat the side and rear microphones as objects (DA) so that the playback remains accurate.
