Mark your gear

Mark your gear

It is not always possible to stick a sticker with the company logo on the surface of hand cases, suitcases or on any part of your gear. Even on tool cases, these stickers do not usually stick very well. So we stick a sticker on the inside, where it is well protected also.
On the outside of the suitcase, we use colored insulating tape, which is available at hardware stores for little money.
The trick is to stretch it a little. Not too much, just a little. Then wrap it around the lower part of the handle a few times, just before the joint. This makes it quick and easy to see which suitcase belongs to whom when you are on the same set with several other people.
Especially if you use standard gear that many people have.
When dismantling and packing up, it can happen very quickly that some of your gear disappears into the cases and suitcases of your esteemed colleagues.
However, if the parts are clearly marked, the risk of confusion is significantly reduced.
This also applies to microphone and other stands, as well as all accessories.
For XLR cables, we wrap a few turns around the cable on the side where the male XLR connector is located.
This way, the colored adhesive tapes are not visually distracting when recording a concert, and in nature, bright colors act as an alarm signal for many animals.
