FOA in native B-format with LDCs

FOA in native B-format with LDCs
In case you have four Large Diaphragm Condenser (LDC) microphones and they do have multi patterns, you could try the following setup:

We build this with two AKG C 414 XLII (gold) and two AKG C 414 XLS (silver).
Due to the low self noise, this is a great choice when you need to record silent sounds. Make sure you have appropriate wind protection on hand, as you will hear "the flutter of a butterfly's wings".
The tutorial and the shopping-list is still in the making, but the setup is pretty straightforward. We used a full Manfrotto Dado Kit with 6 pipes, some male/male 3/8" thread adapter and a tripod.
The cables are the ends of a RJ49 -> XLR split, so we just have one cable.
With this setup you can record in First Order Ambisonic in native B-Format. There is no conversion (A -> B-format) necessary.
And this setup is quite easy to handle and to carry around.
Have fun and happy recording
