Air Cage
Air Cage
This setup has been published by the ECHO project and it shows some very interesting details.
But here is the "inventor" himself, Nick Wollage:
"Spacious and enveloping sound for traditional cinematic orchestration, characterized by the unique timbral character of Neumann M50 microphones. Offers good translation in Dolby Atmos and fold-downs.
The configuration will be (in the original)
- Traditional Decca Tree with M50s for L/C/R, extended with TLM170s for sides, rears and height layer.
- The use of hyper-cardioids for the TLM170s offer a greater level of interchannel decorrelation and separation, resulting in enhanced envelopment."
This setup is similar to, but also different from, the PCMA-3D v2 setup.

Yes! There is a Decca tree in the front, which has its advantages. It is commonly used for recording big orchestras.
This setup sparked our interest, and we will set up a budget-friendly version.
As soon as the tutorial and shopping list is ready, we will publish it here.
Stay tuned
