2D - FOA in native B-format
Sometimes it is sufficient to only have the horizontal plane. So this setup is perfectly adequate and quite easy to set up.

But what do we have here? It is a setup with two SDCs with a "figure-of-eight" (pointing up and down) and an omni (pointing at you).
If you wanted to capture the sound events for the height, you would need to add another "figure-of-eight" microphone for the Z-axis.
This setup is ideal for recording a choir arranged around the system, or any other gropu of musicians standing in a circle.
The big advantage is that “only” three channels need to be recorded here. This leaves one channel free on most handheld recorders for other things. For example, SMPTE timecode! This allows you to synchronize perfectly with professional camera systems!
You can find out exactly how to do this in THIS article.
