He worked at the IRT - Institute of Radio Technology in Munich, Germany, where he made some highly regarded developments and discoveries.

Several multichannel microphone systems were developed by him and his team. To new just some:

• IRT-cross
• INA 3 - Ideale Nieren Anordnung, German for “ideal cardioid arrangement”
• INA 5 - Same as INA 3, but with additional two rear microphones.
• OCT
• "Theile trapezoid" or "Cardioid Trapezoid"
• ...
